Water treatment

If your main concern is to reduce colour, odour, chlorine, chemicals and organic substances from your water supply, the Cintropur® water treatment units are ideal. The high volume of Activated Carbon and the built in flow restrictor ensures optimal results and maximum contact time purifying your water. Granular media provides extremely high surface area and economical refills.

Domestic & Industrial Water Treatment

TE-CTN - 0.57 LTR carbon treatment unit. Flow rate 40 L/min ensures maximum contact, ideal for underbench main kitchen tap.

DUO-CTN has NW25 prefilter & 0.57 LTR carbon treatment unit, ideal for chlorinated townwater and rainwater supplies.

** 0.57 Ltr of granular activated carbon has the same surface area as 75 Rugby fields!

1.7 LTR carbon treatment unit. Flow rate 40 L/min ensures maximum contact, 1 1/4" fittings.

NW500TE 4.85 LTR carbon treatment unit. 2" male BSP fittings. For commercial & industrial applications.

Activated Carbon

Granular activated carbon (GAC) is commonly used for reducing organic matter, tannins, colour, odour, chlorine, chemicals and residual disinfectants in water supplies. Activated carbon is a favored water treatment technique because of its multifunctional nature and the fact that it adds nothing detrimental to the treated water. The two principal mechanisms by which activated carbon removes contaminants from water are adsorption and catalytic reduction.  Organics are reduced by adsorption and residual disinfectants are reduced by catalytic reduction. Organic material in water supplies comes from decaying plant life, which become more soluble in water over time. Activated carbon reduces chlorine to a non-oxidative chloride ion. The reaction is very fast and takes place in the first few inches of a new activated carbon bed.

Just 1 gram of activated carbon has up to 3000m2 (square meters) of surface area!

Activated Carbon Media 1.25kg / 3.4 LTR CARTON

Unit Volumes & Surface Area:
NW25TE-CTN, DUO-CTN = 0.57 LTR (6x refills), area = 625,000 m2 by adsporption.

NW32TE = 1.7 LTR (2x refills), area = 1,875,000 m2 by adsporption.

NW500 = 4.85 LTR, area = 5,325,000 m2 by adsporption.

For hygienic reasons and in order to make the best use of its functions and efficiency, it is recommended to change the activated carbon at least every four to six months.
In order to preserve the adsorption capacity of activated carbon, a sediment filter before the carbon unit is recommended to filter out suspended solid particles.

The NW25-DUO unit is a dual-function system consisting of a sediment filter combined with an internal container for activated carbon media for dechlorination of water, removal of unpleasant odour and colour, improving the taste of drinking water, removal of chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides.

Installation: Ideal for whole house water treatment.

Maintenance: 1.25kg carton of carbon is sufficient for 6 REFILLS

It is recommended to change the activated carbon at least after each 4 to 6 months of use with rainwater or when other contaminants are noticed.

Replace the sleeve of the filter at least twice a year depending on the volumes and quality of the water supply. The standard product comes with a filter fineness of 25 micron but can be equipped with 10, 5 or 1 micron for finer filtration of town supplies. The type of sleeve used is the same used in the model NW25 found here.

For chlorinated supplies, ensure you run your tap for around 10 seconds to flush your plumbing before using the water.
