In areas where soft water is present and especially combined with chlorination, steel and copper appliances can be subject to corrosion, pipes can be clogged and rust staining can be found. Scale reducers minimise the problems caused by corrosive elements in the water in contact with metallic surfaces. The inhibition of the corrosive effects is obtained by formation of a thin protective layer of phosphate on the metal.
The PUGH scale reducer doses a small quantity of food phosphate into the water supply without modifying its mineral content. This active ingredient in the scale reducer works as a corrosion inhibitor. The content of phosphate left in the water is negligible in comparison with the concentration in daily food preparations.
This process has no influence on taste or odour of the water.
